Rules for social media

Be polite

This is the #1 rule

Text speak is okay if y'all are talking to your friends, but not when you are talking to an admissions official or a potential employer or anyone who will be part of your bookish or professional life.

  • Utilise proper capitalization

These words need to be in uppercase messages:

  • the first word of every sentence
  • proper nouns
  • acronyms
  • titles

I often encounter messages where none of the letters are capped, not fifty-fifty the first one in the judgement. That looks very strange and is wrong.

  • Don't use more than 1 exclamation point

Hi!

Hey!!

Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Too many exclamation marks show you're young and inexperienced. People won't respect you.

Stickers

Stickers are role of text speak. And you should not utilize them. I repeat, do non utilise stickers.

Be patient

Beingness patient is polite.
